David Stephen Herron Sr., age 70 of Akron, passed peacefully in his sleep March 25, 2026.

He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 46 years Barbara (nee Butler) and his son David Jr., sister Victoria Gaffney, brother Jeffrey Herron Sr. and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Mary Herron.

David was a devoted and loving husband. After a long and determined courtship, he married Barbara on May 24, 1980, beginning a partnership that would span decades and serve as a foundation for their family. He was a dedicated and proud father of David Jr., actively involved in his son’s life and interests. David coached many of his son’s athletic teams and played a significant role in the local community, leading multiple North Hill baseball organizations. His passion and leadership ultimately contributed to coaching “The Lookouts” to a State Championship. 

Deeply proud of his Irish heritage, David was a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, where he found camaraderie and connection for many years. David enjoyed spending time outdoors camping and fishing, watching sports, and listening to classic rock with friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 17th, 10:45am at the 

Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Rd. Seville, OH.
