Dennis D. Miller

Dennis Dixon Miller, a longtime resident of Berea, Ohio, and professor of economics at Baldwin-Wallace University, passed away on August 9, 2026. He was 76.

Dennis was born on May 1,1950, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to Kermit B. Miller and Martha I. (Ralston) Miller. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1968 and went on to attend Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. He later earned his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he studied under celebrated economist Kenneth Boulding.

Dennis dedicated his career to the study and teaching of economics. At Baldwin-Wallace University, he served as a professor, held the Buckhorn Chair of Economics as well as being appointed to Emeriti Faculty. His academic work took him around the world through several Fulbright Scholarships, allowing him to teach economics at universities in India, Egypt, Ukraine, and Nicaragua.

In addition to his teaching, Dennis authored several articles for The Wall Street Journal and co-authored the book Oil Institutions and Sustainability in MENA: A Radical Approach through the Empowerment of Citizens. In 2021, he was honored with the Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his career longevity, philanthropic endeavors, and lasting contributions to society.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Nina Dorosh; his brother, Dale R. Miller of Fargo, North Dakota; his sister, Donna J. Lutrell of Chillicothe, Ohio; and several nephews.
