Leo Kendall Gilmore, born in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 28, 1953, passed away peacefully January 11, 2025, just after celebrating his 71st birthday. Leo lived a life full of love, laughter and dedication to the things that brought him joy and fulfillment.
A man with a deep passion for music, Leo found his greatest inspiration in The Beetles, his favorite band. He had a green thumb and took pride in his love for plants and warm weather, which always reminded him of the comfort of home. Leo appreciated the beauty of antiques and the nostalgia of old TV shows, which brought him joy and a connection to the past. In his younger years, Leo enjoyed the peacefulness of fishing an activity that allowed him to connect with nature and find serenity.
Leo proudly served his country in the Army, spending his time stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he became a skilled tuck pointer in the construction trades known for his hard work and craftmanship.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Tonya Jones. He leaves behind his brothers Gilbert and Jon Gilmore and his sister Jody Schenfield (Bob). He will also be deeply missed by his stepdaughter Amy McDowell (Don) and loving granddaughter Vanessa Perry; as well as his grandchildren Brandon Jones (Katie), Sarah May (Josh) and Emily McDowell, and great grandchildren Wyatt, Autumn, Cameron, Alora, Kensley, Gabriel, Alaina, Penelope and Silas.
Leo's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, as they cherish the laughter he brought, the stories he told and the love he shared.
A celebration of Leo's life will be announced at a later date, where friends and family can gather to honor his legacy and share cherished memories.
