Loretta Anna Smith (nee Nicol) age 81 of Eastlake, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at her home June 2, 2026.
Loretta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She will be remembered for her love of family, her strength, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome and cared for. Nothing brought her more joy than feeding family and friends, gathering loved ones around the table, and making sure no one ever left her home hungry. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and love.
Loretta spent her life putting others before herself and was always ready with a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement. Her selfless heart, unwavering devotion, and endless generosity touched countless lives and created memories that will be cherished forever.
She was a proud union steward with Local 880 and was respected for her willingness to help others and speak up for what she believed was right.
Loretta was born to Albert and Bernice Nicol, who preceded her in death, and she leaves behind her beloved husband, Joseph George Smith; her daughter, Stacy Smith; her son, Daniel Smith; and her brother, Frank Nicol.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Ann Smith; her sisters, Susan Griffith and Sandra Hilton; and her grandson, Alexander Joseph Thompson.
