Official Obituary of

Christine M. Alex (nee: Anthou)

November 24, 1974 ~ September 11, 2022 (age 47) 47 Years Old

Obituary

Christine M. Alex (nee Anthou), age 47, entered into rest peacefully Sunday, September 11, 2022.
Beloved wife of John G.
Cherished mother of George and Samantha.
Dearest daughter of the late Maria and Sam Anthou.
Dearest sister of Margaret Scopelianos (Angelo) and Emmanuel Anthou (Kris).
Dear daughter in-law of Becky and George Alex.
Dear sister in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.

Born and raised in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Christine was the third child of a family from the island of Rhodes, Greece. Her strong roots in both the US and Greece cultivated a love of culture which was foundational throughout her life. After honoring the family tradition of completing a degree at Penn State, Christine earned a Ph.D. in Sociology based on her research thesis about the unique culture on her beloved Rhodes. She met and married the love of her life and moved to Cleveland where she embraced a beautiful new environment. Above all, Christine was a devoted wife and mother. She treasured her husband and children beyond measure, as well as her extended family. Her priorities were always with her family, and she could always be found either on soccer fields or at church events. As a faithful Orthodox Christian, she served her church communities and was a Hellenic Dance Program instructor at St Paul's Greek Orthodox Church.

Professionally her career led to the fitting position of HR Associate Director on the Well-Being Team at EY. There she worked diligently to create the best possible work culture for employees, including a collaboration on a ground-breaking research study to be published in the future.

In all aspects of life, she provided a warm and inviting smile, solace and a compassionate ear to those around her. Her listening skills were profound. Her advice was always personal and non judgmental. She was consistently stoic and graceful in good times and under duress, and she provided stability and confidence to those around her. She never mentioned her personal achievements, instead she always radiated a unique combination of humility and confidence in all that she did.
