Obituary

Robert H. “Bob” Emerick age 81 of Olmsted Township, passed away May 11, 2022.
A proud United States Air Force Veteran and a retired Police Officer having served the City of Cleveland for 30 years with the Cleveland Police Department.

Born August 21, 1940 Bob was the first of 3 children to Howard and Frances Emerick.
After growing up and graduating from high school in Cleveland, Bob joined the United Sates Air Force which took him to Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, ME.
It was fate and luck because that’s where he met the love of his life Anita Voisine, who lived in Stockholm, ME.  After their first date, Bob told his fellow airmen that he met the woman he was going to marry.  Bob and Anita were set up on a blind date, that would eventually last more than 60 years.  Their first date was in April of 1961, and they married in October that same year.

After their whirlwind romance, Bob and Anita moved back to Cleveland where Bob worked for the State of Ohio Patrol and then the Railway Police but decided to serve his hometown and joined the Cleveland Police Department with badge #1908.

Bob and Anita had 6 children together.  He worked almost every day making sure his family never went without.  In June of 1995, Bob retired from the CPD and passed his badge onto his oldest living son, Walter who joined the force just after his retirement.  To date, badge 1908 has guarded the city for over 57 years.

Throughout Bob’s 81 years, he never met a stranger.  He loved to “kibbits” and was willing to have a cup of coffee with anyone.  He was thrilled when folks remembered him and he loved making people laugh even more.  He was full of colorful jokes up to the end.  So, next time you are having a Five Star hot dog or have some potica, think of him and smile.

Bob was the beloved husband for over 60 years of Anita (nee: Voisine).  Loving father of Ellen (Jim) Haytas, Roberta (Matthew) Swank, Walter (Elizabeth “Cuti”), Candace (Kevin) Pringle, Robert H. II (Kellianne).  Dedicated “Papa” of 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and dear brother of Ellen (Bill) Samuels.

Bob was preceded in death by his infant son Little Bobby, parents; Howard and Frances (nee: Molaski), brother Howard W. II, and his beloved dog Franny.
